Salinta Monon was awarded the National Living Treasures Award in 1998.

In the Philippines, the National Living Treasures Award is also called the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA), which means "Award for the Creators of the Country." It is given to a person or group of artists who have made a significant contribution to the country's intangible cultural heritage. Filipino citizens and groups who practice any traditional art that is unique to the country are called Manlilikha ng Bayan or National Living Treasures. These people or groups have reached a high level of skill in their art, which has been passed down to the next generation with the same level of skill.

President Rodrigo Duterte declared a year-long celebration named "Centennial Year of Salinta Monon" from December 12, 2021, in her honor.

Duterte said in his proclamation that the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) advocated declaring the Centennial Year of Salinta Monon via the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan Executive Council. According to the presidential proclamation, the council's suggestion was in keeping with its duty to "identify and implement measures to foster true appreciation among Filipinos for the priceless and intangible cultural difference of the Manlilikha ng Bayan." Additionally, the legislation compels the state to recognize and promote traditional folk artists for their contributions to the nation's legacy by ensuring that their creativity is passed on to future Filipino generations.
